A NIGHT of Strictly glitz, glamour and talent has raised £37,000 for Willowbrook Hospice.
Willowbrook’s Strictly Glitter Ball took place at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Saturday, October 28 in a bid to raise vital funds for the Eccleston Park hospice.
This year’s competitors who all took part in a Strictly Come Dancing themed night, performing their own routines, included staff from the hospice, supporters and patients, who were supported by their family, friends and colleagues who filled the room with glitter, sparkle and oozed charm.
The evening was compered by ITV’s Paul Crone, guests enjoyed a three course meal, and in between dances, an auction took place with exclusive items such as signed Conor Coady football boots, artwork by Johnny Vegas, a signed Saints RFC ball and much more.
The contestants gave it their all and wowed the crowd with the winner being Lauren Lourens, a local solicitor who chose to take part to give back to the hospice after knowing a number of friends who needed to access the service.
Lauren performed an energetic jive with her partner Donna, and scored a perfect score of 30 out of 30.
An additional trophy was given for the People’s Vote, and Willowbrook Hospice’s Dr Stephen Fu was chosen as this winner with his partner Emma, with their entertaining Back to the Future themed jive dance.
A spokesperson from Willowbrook Hospice said: “We are grateful to Silhouette Dance School for their support with providing the dance lessons to all our contestants, and our headline sponsor Frodshams Solicitors, and other local organisations and businesses for making the event possible.
“Thank you again to everyone who supported our Strictly Glitter Ball, we are truly overwhelmed with the amount raised.
“Due to this enormous success, plans are already underway for 2024’s Strictly Glitter Ball”
