WITH many residents planning to attend services for Christmas, here is a list of Masses taking place in Anglican Churches across the town.

The Church of England Diocese has released a list of church services taking place in St Helens on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

  • Christmas Eve, December 24

3:00pm Christingle Service at St Helens Parish Church Child friendly service to start Christmas in the right spirit

3:00pm Crib Service at St Nicholas, Sutton

3:00pm Crib Service at St Thomas, Eccleston

4:00pm Crib Service at Christ Church, Eccleston

4:00pm St Helens Family Carols at Parish Church, St Helens After the overwhelming success of last year, our St Helens Family Carols returns on Christmas Eve! Puppets, interactive nativity, and a good sing along to some Christmas Carols come and celebrate the Christmas story with all the family.

4:00pm Tea and Stories at St Helens Parish Church, but not as you may know it! Tea and Stories is a family friendly, interactive cafe style service. There will be interactive prayers, and opportunities to explore the bible as we consider what God is saying to us through the biblical text and our theme for the day. We shall also share afternoon tea together.

6:00pm Bedtime Nativity at St Paul's Church, Blackbrook Come to church in your pyjamas and bring blankets, cuddly toys and everything snuggly as we hear the Christmas story just before we go to bed. Perfect for little ones. Age appropriate bedtime snacks provided. All welcome, just come as you are!

7:00pm Abundant Worship at St Andrew’s Denton Green At 7pm on a Sunday we meet for our evening gathering, Abundant Worship, where a warm welcome awaits you. This is a very informal gathering where you can come to spend time in God's presence. You can expect lots of music, both lively and reflective and a time to soak in sung worship, prayer, and words from the bible. We often share words of encouragement together, sometimes hear a short word or share communion. This is a space to relax, feel free to share refreshments at the start of our gathering and to help yourself throughout the evening.

9:00pm Christmas Eve Communion at St Paul's Church, Blackbrook An informal, reflective Holy Communion service as we gather to recall the incarnation of the Word of God. All welcome. Come as you are.

11:00pm Midnight Communion at Parish Church, St Helens With music from brass duet, come and celebrate the first communion of Christmas as we welcome in Christmas day together. A beautiful and atmospheric worship service finishing just after midnight.
