I know the problem Laura!

FURTHER to the letter from Laura Harrison re the No. 35 bus (Dear Star), can I explain as I have been on the bus twice and seen her problem.

The 35 to both Gillars Green and Sutton goes down Bridge Street, whereas before the one to Eccleston went down Duke Street.

The first time the bus stopped at Burtons to pick up, I can only assume the driver was new because as we got to the Post Office hands went out and he stopped again for three ladies to get on. This bus said 35 Gillars Green on the front but they only looked at the number, so when the bus went round the roundabout to the lights, there was panic and demands to be let off. Two got off and one stayed on 'for the ride.'

The second time, the driver knew the stops so when the hands came out he just carried on going and the look of astonishment on the faces told me they had only seen the number. I assume this is what happened to Laura Harrison.

Will Arriva admit that they have made a gigantic cock-up?

They have spent £30,000 and the bus fares are going up again to pay for it - minimum fare even for just one stop.

V. CUNNINGHAM, Eccleston (full address supplied)
