Paul's 'on the run' for hospice
A KEEN runner, whose mum suffers from inoperable small cell lung cancer, is limbering up to compete in the Great North Run to raise money for Willowbrook Hospice. Paul Arkwright, originally from St Helens but now living in Rainham, Kent, felt compelled to donate his sponsorship money to the hospice to say thanks for the help and care provided for his mum, Mary, who was also diagnosed with a brain tumour back in August 2004. He explained: "My mum regularly goes to day therapy sessions at Willowbrook Hospice and they have been so good for her that I just wanted to give something back. "I've run the London Marathon twice before so I know what I'm getting myself into!" Thirty-two-year-old Paul has set his sights on a time of less than two hours for the half-marathon when he sets off from the starting gate in Newcastle on Sunday, October 1.
