Thirty years of Saints news with the St Helens Star
SAINTS have remained one of the biggest rugby league names over the past 30 years and since the switch to summer they have been the most successful side.
It has not all been a bed of roses - the club suffered seven long years without a trophy between 1978 and 1984. And then in the late 80s and early 90s were forced to live in the shadow of their big spending rivals Wigan.
But through it all the fans have stayed loyal and they reaped their rewards once the trophies started rolling in from 1996. Through it all there has been another constant - the coverage of the St Helens Star.
