Haresfinch 16 Ulverston 28
A DEPLETED Finch side faded in the last quarter as the big Ulverston forwards took control. Finch competed well in the early stages and could have been in front at half time but made far too many mistakes. Ulverston opened the scoring with a try wide out but Finch took the lead when prop Lee Burke powered in for a try and second row Danny Slater converted. Finch had many chances but it was Ulverston who took a 10-6 half time lead when they were awarded a penalty try. Ulverston increased their lead after the break with a converted try but Finch bounced back when outstanding stand off Richard Twist scored a try from a kick through. Finch then drew level when full back Andy Bethell picked the ball up from acting half to force his way over for a try, converted by Slater. But Ulverston finished the stronger and scored two converted tries late on. New coach Eddie Tinsley was mildly pleased but knows it can only get better.
